A mixed episode: it was good to see an Ice Warrior back (and very cool to see him without his armour), but what was the point of a story set on a submarine in 1983?

The TARDIS materialises on a Russian nuclear submarine in 1983. On board is a frozen specimen, believed to be a mammoth. Naturally it's not and it turns out to be an Ice Warrior. He's defrosted and trouble ensues. And in the end, the Doctor saves the day and a nuclear crisis is averted. There were some humorous bits: the banter between the Doctor and Clara continues to amuse; Clara stating that she does not speak Russian; and the Professor singing western songs. But overall, it was a weak story. Must do better.

There was quite a bit of the Ice Warrior that reminded me of Predator. The advanced alien up against the weaker humans, the super human strength, the cool tech, the analysis of the humans and even the iconic sound. A bit of a rip off if you ask me.
