Socceroos vs Oman

Our first game ever in the Asian Cup and I didn't get to watch it as it was only on pay tv. By the sounds of it though, I didn't miss much. We could only manage a 1-1 draw and we were lucky to get that. Tim Cahill came on as a sub and scored an injury-time equaliser, reminiscent of his starring role against Japan in the World Cup. After coming into the tournament as one of the favourites, we clearly have some work to do.

Tim Cahill now has an enviable record. He is the scorer of Australia's first goal at a men's World Cup and Australia's first goal at a men's Asian Cup.

I also read that ratings for this match exceeded those for Rugby League. This is significant as league typically has the biggest audiences. Clearly, football is establishing itself as a valuable property.
