A scrappy match on a wet pitch, but we did enough to win and finish top of the group - objective achieved. However, neither our coach nor our captain sugar-coated it, we'll need to do better in our next match against Iraq.

Bahrain needed the win and were more adventurous as a result. The first half was roughly even, with both sides creating good chances. Jedinak scored his second goal in two games in the first half to give us a very valuable lead.

In the second half, we were under the pump as Bahrain lifted and played very well. Schwarzer made a couple of very good saves to keep them at bay. Mis-firing Cahill went off late with an injury, which is a concern. Emerton picked up his second yellow card for the tournament and will miss the quarter-final. The enforced changes definitely weakened the team. Let's hope we can get Wilkshire back.
