We got off to a flyer when Trent Sainsbury headed home off a corner after just three minutes. In a big game an early goal can be crucial. And it got even better just eleven minutes later when Jason Davidson slotted home after a goal-mouth melee to make it 2-0. The game was almost over at this point. Australia is playing well enough and with such confidence that it was hard to see UAE getting into the game.

The UAE were very attacking - although they needed to be given they were down two goals - the best we've come up against so far in the tournament. They had some good passages of play in the first half but never really threatened. We went into the break with a comfortable lead and held on to it until the end. We're into our second consecutive final. It wasn't the prettiest of matches, but this was a magnificent result.

A couple of points from the match: there was an absolute clanger of an offside call against Tim Cahill - he was clearly in his own half at the time the ball was kicked; and Australia have now scored 12 goals via 10 different scorers - this is simply extraordinary, especially given our limited number of scorers in the past year and could be the key to going all the way.
