A win's a win. And it's always nice to win away from home. We were a bit scrappy and were outplayed towards the end, but we hung on for our first win since the World Cup finals.
A frantic opening 30 minutes should have seen four goals. Australia scored first through Holman, before Poland equalised just four minutes later. Wilkshire converted a penalty shortly afterwards, before Federic saved one. 2-1 up at this point and there it stayed all match.
Australia played pretty well in the first half, but were probably outplayed in the second, by a team that hasn't played a competitive match since October last year. Emerton managed to get two yellows cards in the space of a few seconds. But Poland couldn't capitalise even with the Aussies down to ten men.
Osieck tried out a couple more players. We continue to try and attack. Good signs. More work to be done.
Trivia: this was the first meeting between our two countries at senior level.
