Our inability to convert good chances saw us drop crucial points as we finished with a draw against China. The results from our previous two matches meant this was a must-win. Unfortunately, while being the better side, we didn't score the goals we should have.

Elsewhere Japan won again, meaning we slipped into 3rd place and out of automatic qualification. This was later compounded by the inter-federation draw resulting in qualification requiring a match up against South American team. This was even further compounded by FIFA's decision to make this a one-off match in a neutral location. While we've successfully navigated the play-offs in the past, this looks like a real stumbling block. So we're are going to need to win our games against Vietnam (very doable) and Oman (tricky) as well as (probably) beat Japan and get a result against the Saudis. It's remarkable how quickly our path to qualification went from straight-forward to very difficult.
