A reasonable episode that explores a key aspect of the Doctor's past, tries to tidy up lots of loose ends and with a surprise change of routine.

The Doctor returns for Season 9 with an epic-scale episode that's full of drama, wit and menace. Overall it was a very solid return with just a few odd moments.

One of the better episodes rounds off this season. This Christmas special was very Christmassy with Santa making a strong cameo. The storyline was solid, although the many influences were a little hard to ignore.
