So I signed up for Book Crossing a couple of weeks back. Earlier this week I received a "Release Alert". A book was now "in the wild" at a nearby shopping centre. I wasn't able to get there until today. The instructions for finding the book were along the lines of: between the middle and top floor (the escalators are halved) down the food court end, behind the Mount Franklin vending machine.
First I searched at the wrong end of the shopping centre. Arguably there are two food courts, one at each end, but most would agree I was at the wrong end. At the other end, I looked between the top two levels but with no luck. About to give up I looked down one more escalator and saw one more vending machine - between the top two shopping levels, ie. don't count the car-parks. And hiding behind the machine was the book. I'd found it!
And it was rather exciting. Having to hunt made it just that bit more worthwhile too. Now I have to read the book :)
PS: Goodness knows if I'm on several security camera tapes. I wonder what the guards would make of my actions.
PPS: I reported my "capture" of the book on the book crossing website. I even got an e-mail from the person who released the book into the wild.
